Our Memories

Ain’t no place much lonelier,

Sitting right next to you, but know that you are thinking of someone else,

For you now believe, we were never once in love.

But all my memories are of the best times between us.

Waiting on the sidewalk, watching you come to me,

Moonlight in the backseat, as we drive down,

On our first night, finding love in each other.

This is a memory that I don’t mess with

Watching you drive down, smiling with the same passion,

Even after a year, time and distance dissolved,

Talking into late nights, wishing we were together,

Creating memories of every moment

Distance had no meaning, for the bond we shared.

Kept us anchored, I believed now and forever.

And the time comes to stand still when we see each other.

Letting us make a memory forever every time.

But now you say, we were never together, to be over.

How does one know when it started or when it’s over, or when to stay,

When you gave up, without a second thought.

And messed up our good memories.
